• Does the Shelly Wave Plug S need a Z-Wave hub?

  Yes. The plug is a Z-Wave device with no Wi-Fi of its own and requires a Z-Wave hub or controller (for example Home Assistant with a Z-Wave stick or SmartThings) for remote control and automations.
• What maximum load does the plug handle?

  The plug switches resistive loads up to 2500 W, that is up to 12 A at 230 V. For motors and inductive loads the practical limit is lower.
• Does the Shelly Wave Plug S measure energy use?

  Yes. The device measures active power in watts and accumulated energy in kWh with 0.1 kWh resolution; the data is visible in the Z-Wave hub app.
• What Z-Wave frequency does it use in Moldova?

  The EU version uses the 868.4 MHz Z-Wave band, the standard European frequency that is separate from home Wi-Fi, which keeps the signal stable through walls.
• Can the plug be used outdoors?

  No. The housing is rated IP20 and is intended for indoor use only at temperatures from −20 °C to 40 °C; for outdoor use choose the Wave Outdoor Plug S model.
• What protections are built in?

  The plug has three always-active protections: overheat (80 °C threshold), overcurrent (16 A +10%) and overvoltage (278 V threshold).
