How is this different from a smart plug like the S60?

A smart plug pushes into an existing outlet and protrudes; the Orb Socket IS the outlet — fitted flush in the wall box, permanently. Features (metering, protections) are similar, but looks and mounting differ completely.

How involved is the installation?

It is a socket replacement: kill the circuit, land live, neutral and earth, seat the module in a standard wall box. Sonoff requires a professional electrician and a 16 A MCB/RCBO upstream; wiring must be 1.5–2.5 mm² copper.

Type F or Type E — which one for Moldova?

This is the Type F (Schuko) version, the practical standard in Moldova; it accepts Type F, Type C and CEE 7/7 plugs. The Type E variant (with the earth pin) ships separately as the WS01TPE-E for French-style installations.

Does it work in Apple Home without a Sonoff hub?

Yes. It is a true Matter end device: scan the QR code on the module and the socket joins Apple Home directly. All you need is the ecosystem's own Matter controller — a HomePod or Apple TV — and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

What does the energy monitoring actually show?

Real-time wattage, daily, monthly and half-year charts, and a bill computed at the tariff you enter yourself. Swap the appliance and one tap resets the history. The detailed statistics live in the eWeLink app.

What happens on overload?

You set your own thresholds for current (up to 16 A), voltage and power; when exceeded, the relay cuts power automatically. The thresholds do not replace the 16 A breaker in the panel though — that stays mandatory.

Can I gang several Orb modules in one frame?

Yes — that is the point of the Fusion series: the socket shares frames with Orb switches and dimmers, so a block by the door looks like one unit. The multi-gang frame is sold separately.

Does it work without internet?

Yes: local LAN control keeps working while your phone and the socket share a network, and the touch button works regardless. Internet is only needed for remote access and voice assistants.
