• Does the Shelly Wave Motion LR need a Z-Wave hub?

  Yes. It is a Z-Wave device and does not work standalone. You need a certified Z-Wave controller, for example Home Assistant with an 800-series Z-Wave stick or SmartThings, to add and use it.
• What range does the Long Range version offer?

  In Z-Wave Long Range topology coverage reaches up to 80 m indoors and up to 1000 m outdoors depending on local conditions. On the classic mesh network the range is about 40 m indoors.
• What battery does it use and how long does it last?

  It uses a 3 V CR2477 battery, included in the box, with up to 3 years of life depending on usage.
• Which Z-Wave frequency does it use in Europe?

  It operates at 868.4 MHz for the European mesh network and 864.0 MHz for Z-Wave Long Range mode, using the S800 chip.
• Does it have a built-in light sensor?

  Yes, the device includes a light sensor, so you can build automations that switch on lighting only when it is dark and motion is detected.
• Can it be mounted outdoors?

  The enclosure carries an IP20 rating and an operating range of -20 to 40 degrees Celsius, so it is intended for indoor mounting or weather-protected spaces.
