• Does the Shelly BLU Motion need a gateway?

  Yes. As a Bluetooth device in the BLU range, it needs a Shelly BLU Gateway to communicate with the Shelly app, the cloud and your automations. Without a gateway it works only locally over Bluetooth.
• How long does the battery last and what type is it?

  It runs on a single 3 V CR2477 lithium battery, included in the box. In normal use the battery lasts up to 5 years.
• What is the motion detection range and angle?

  The PIR sensor detects motion up to 9 metres away across a 120° coverage angle. It also has a built-in lux meter to measure light level.
• What is the Bluetooth communication range?

  The Bluetooth 4.2 link reaches up to 10 m indoors and up to 30 m outdoors, depending on walls and local interference.
• Can one gateway serve several BLU sensors?

  Yes. A single Shelly BLU Gateway serves several BLU devices within Bluetooth range, so one gateway per apartment or floor is usually enough.
• What environmental conditions does it work in?

  It operates between −20 and 40 °C at 30–70 % humidity. The compact housing (32x42x27 mm, 26 g with battery) mounts without any wiring.
