• Does the sensor work over Zigbee or Bluetooth?

  The ZB version works over Zigbee 3.0 (802.15.4) and Bluetooth 5 LE at the same time. You can join it to a Zigbee network or use it directly over Bluetooth with a Shelly gateway, depending on what you have at home.
• Do I need a gateway to use the sensor?

  Yes. For control from the Shelly Smart Control app and for cloud automations you need a Shelly BLU Gateway or any Shelly Plus, Pro, Gen3 or Gen4 device acting as a bridge.
• How long does the battery last and what type is it?

  The sensor is powered by a single 3 V CR2032 battery with up to 5 years of life depending on how often the door or window opens. It needs no cables or charging.
• What does the sensor measure besides open/closed state?

  Besides open and closed, the G-sensor measures the tilt angle, useful for tilt-and-turn windows, and the light sensor reports the illuminance level for daylight-based scenarios.
• How is it mounted and what are its dimensions?

  The 35x35x7 mm body sticks to the fixed frame and the 35x12x7 mm magnet to the moving part, with no drilling. The adhesive mount makes it suitable for PVC windows and rented apartments too.
• Does it integrate with Home Assistant?

  Yes, Shelly devices integrate with Home Assistant, and the Zigbee version can also be added through a compatible Zigbee coordinator. The CasaSmart team can help set up automations.
