• Does the SNZB-04P do anything without a Zigbee hub?

  No — it has no screen and no siren of its own: every event travels through a coordinator. Officially confirmed are NSPanel Pro, iHost, ZB Bridge Pro, the ZBDongle-E/P dongles, Echo speakers with a built-in Zigbee hub and SmartThings/Aeotec V3 hubs; any other Zigbee 3.0 gateway works too.
• Why a tamper button if the sensor already reports opening?

  For the clean removal trick: pull the sensor off together with its magnet and the open/closed state never changes. The tamper button registers exactly that — the body leaving the surface — and can fire the gateway siren plus an app push.
• Where does the 'over 5 years' battery figure come from?

  From SONOFF's lab: 25 °C, a SONOFF gateway connection and 50 triggers a day. A front door that slams more often will drain it sooner; the level shows in the app. The cell is a 3 V CR2477 — thicker than the usual CR2450.
• How do I mount it properly on a uPVC window?

  No screws: degrease the profile, peel the 3M film and line up the marks on the body and magnet. The body goes on the frame (the fixed part), the magnet on the sash; with the window closed the gap between them must stay within 20 mm.
• Can it remind me that a door was left open?

  Yes — the door-left-open feature sends a notification after a duration you pick: a short nudge for the balcony door or a long one for the garage. It requires a SONOFF gateway: ZBBridge-P, NSPanel Pro or iHost.
• Will it work on a yard gate or street door?

  Not in the open: the housing has no water protection and the working range is −10…+60 °C, indoors only. A closed garage or a dry shed is fine; a gate facing rain and frost needs an outdoor-rated contact.
• I live in the Apple ecosystem — will the Home app see this contact?

  Not directly: the SNZB-04P is not a Matter device. Through a Matter bridge it will: the ZBBridge-U or eWeLink CUBE expose it to Apple Home as a bridged contact sensor, with state and automations.
