Shelly BLU Gateway is a compact USB dongle (45x20x8 mm, 5 g) that performs one essential job: it translates the Bluetooth signal of Shelly BLU accessories into Wi-Fi traffic that the app and cloud can read. BLU sensors such as BLU H&T or BLU Motion broadcast over Bluetooth Low Energy and have no Wi-Fi radio of their own, so for remote notifications, automations and cloud history they need a permanently powered device to listen for them - that is exactly the bridge's role.<br><br>The hardware is built around an ESP32 processor with 4 MB of flash memory, an 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi radio on the 2.4 GHz band and Bluetooth 4.2. Wi-Fi range reaches up to 30 m indoors and 50 m outdoors, while Bluetooth range covers up to 20 m indoors and 30 m outdoors. Power is 5 V over a USB Type-A port with consumption below 1 W, so it can stay on around the clock at no noticeable cost.<br><br>The firmware supports scripting and MQTT, enabling integration into Home Assistant or local cloud-free flows. It connects to the Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa ecosystems and to the Shelly app. The white plastic housing operates from -20 to 40 degrees C at 30-70% humidity.
