• Do I need a separate hub for this gateway?

  No. The ZHUB-W-MS IS the Zigbee hub — the network coordinator. It does not connect to another hub; instead other Tuya Zigbee 3.0 devices connect to it. It is effectively the first box you buy, before any Zigbee sensor, bulb or module, because without a gateway like this those devices never reach your phone.
• How many devices can I connect to it?

  The wireless (Wi-Fi) version supports up to 50 Tuya Zigbee 3.0 devices, while the wired version goes up to 300. For a typical Chișinău apartment, 50 comfortably covers the sensors, bulbs, plugs and thermostats of a usual setup.
• Which app and voice assistants does it work with?

  It is managed from the Smart Life / Tuya app (iOS and Android), where you add devices and build scenes and automations. Voice control is confirmed via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and the Tuya ecosystem also links with SmartThings, so scenes can be triggered by voice.
• Does it work if the internet goes down?

  Yes, in part. The hub runs local automations offline, directly between the gateway and the devices, so scenes triggered by motion or time still work without internet. Control from outside the home and voice commands do need internet, however, because they go through the Tuya cloud.
• How is it powered and where do I place it?

  It is powered by a 5V / 2A USB adapter — a USB socket or a good phone charger works, but not a weak TV USB port. It runs at -10 to 55 °C and 10-90% humidity, indoors only. For good range, keep it out in the open, not pressed against the router or a metal panel box.
• Does it extend Zigbee coverage across the whole home?

  The hub has an indoor range of roughly 10-30 m depending on walls. The Zigbee network is a mesh: every permanently powered device — a smart plug or a with-neutral relay — repeats the signal, so coverage grows as you add such modules toward the far rooms.
• Which Zigbee devices is it compatible with?

  With Tuya Zigbee 3.0 devices — the wide range of sensors, bulbs, plugs, switches, thermostats and motorised curtains that appear in the Smart Life / Tuya app. It is not meant for closed ecosystems such as Philips Hue or other brands' proprietary devices; it stays in the Tuya / Smart Life world.
