• Does the Shelly Wave 1 need a Z-Wave hub?

  Yes. The Shelly Wave 1 has no Wi-Fi and only works within a Z-Wave network, so you need a compatible 868.4 MHz Z-Wave hub or controller (for example Home Assistant with a Z-Wave stick).
• What is the maximum load the relay can handle?

  The relay contact is potential- and rated up to 16A at 240V AC or 10A at 30V DC, enough for lighting, sockets and most household appliances.
• What frequency does the EU version use?

  The EU version works on the 868.4 MHz Z-Wave frequency, which is less congested than the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band and gives a stable mesh connection.
• Does the Shelly Wave 1 fit in a standard in-wall box?

  Yes. The module measures 37x42x16 mm and weighs 26 g, designed to hide behind an existing switch inside a standard wall box.
• Do I keep manual wall control?

  Yes. The module has an input for a switch or push-button, so the wall rocker keeps controlling the load even without the app.
• Can I install the Shelly Wave 1 myself?

  The wiring is done in a 230V circuit, so installation should be carried out by an electrician. Adding it to the Z-Wave network is then simple via the SmartStart QR code.
