Which device is this bypass for?

It is an accessory for the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 (and Dimmer Gen4). It does not work on its own - it is fitted together with the dimmer, in parallel with the light fixture.

When do I need the bypass?

When the Shelly Dimmer Gen3 is wired without a neutral and controls an LED load under 20 W that flickers, glows faintly after switch-off, or will not dim smoothly.

Up to what power does it work?

The manufacturer specifies no-neutral use for loads below 20 W. If the load exceeds 20 W or a neutral is present, the bypass is not needed.

It mounts behind the fixture or inside the back box, wired to the neutral and to the dimmer output (in parallel with the lamp). The work is done by a licensed electrician.

Does it need app configuration?

No. It is a passive part with no wireless and no settings. It does not appear in the Shelly app - it simply improves the electrical operation of the dimmer.
