What is the maximum current it can measure?

Each channel accepts a clamp rated up to 120A. The included clamp is 50A; for circuits above 50A order the 120A clamp.

What exactly does Shelly EM measure?

It measures active power, reactive power, mains voltage and power factor (cos φ), and keeps a built-in 365-day energy history.

Can I monitor solar panels with it?

Yes. Use one channel for household consumption and the second channel for panel production, so you can see self-consumption versus energy fed to the grid.
