Frequently asked questions

• Does the Star Feather need a separate gateway?

  Yes. As a Zigbee 3.0 device it does not pair with a phone on its own — it needs a Zigbee gateway: a MOES/Tuya hub or any Zigbee 3.0 coordinator (for example through Home Assistant). Without a gateway the plate cannot be controlled. If you have none, one can be added to the same order.
• Is a neutral wire mandatory?

  Yes. This version needs a neutral wire for power — without a neutral the device will not start, and there is no no-neutral mode. Check the back box before ordering: if it has only line and return, a neutral must be pulled or a different model chosen.
• Why four keys on a single plate?

  The 4-gang version runs four separate circuits from one 86-type plate — typically at the entrance: hall, storeroom, bathroom and stairwell. Each channel switches up to 10 A, and floating touch turns them on from anywhere on the glass, with no four raised keys.
• How much load does each key take?

  Up to 10 A per gang, with 10 A total across the plate, at 90–250 V AC. It is built for lighting; heating appliances such as a water heater or towel rail do not belong here. Spread the load across the four channels without exceeding the 10 A total.
• What do floating touch and AG skin-feel glass mean?

  The surface is matte AG skin-feel glass, pleasant to the touch and fingerprint-resistant, with no raised keys. Floating touch covers the whole plate, so the light comes on from wherever you press rather than a fixed button — handy when hands are full or the light is low.
• Does it work with Tuya, Alexa and Google Home?

  Yes. Through the Zigbee gateway the switch joins the Tuya/Smart Life app, and from there on and off commands go to Amazon Alexa and Google Home; over standard Zigbee it also appears in SmartThings. Voice control depends on the gateway linked to the account.
• What is the 2-in-1 light / scene mode?

  Each channel can be either a classic light switch or a Zigbee scene button. So you can keep three channels on lighting and use the fourth as a scene — 'leaving home' or 'good night' — without physically switching any circuit.
• Will it directly replace an existing four-gang switch?

  Mechanically it mounts in the standard EU 86-type back box as a white keyless plate. Mind the box: four channels mean four pairs of wires plus the neutral, and a shallow old box full of twisted joints will be cramped — check the depth before mounting.
