• Will the sensor do anything without a Zigbee hub?

  No. The SNZB-03P is a Zigbee device with no Wi-Fi radio of its own: a hub relays its commands to the lights. SONOFF NSPanel Pro, iHost, Zigbee Bridge Pro, ZBDongle-E/P, 2nd-gen Echo Plus speakers, SmartThings Hub V3 and other Zigbee 3.0 gateways all work.
• What does the SNZB-03P's ambient light detection actually do?

  With every trigger the sensor additionally reports whether the room is dim or bright, so a scene can switch the lamp on only at night. It is not a lux meter — there are no lux values, just a day/night state, and the feature needs a SONOFF hub: ZBBridge-P, NSPanel Pro or iHost.
• Will a cat or dog set the light off?

  Yes. PIR detects thermal movement, not people: a pet entering the coverage area triggers it just the same. The maker's advice is to tilt the sensor slightly upward so the floor level — the cat's routes — drops out of the 110° sector.
• Can I use it on a balcony or point it through glass?

  Better not. The housing has no water protection — the sensor is designed for indoor use only. And glass or acrylic stops infrared cold: motion behind a window or a glass partition is physically invisible to a PIR.
• How long does the CR2477 battery really last?

  SONOFF quotes over 3 years and honestly publishes the test conditions: 25 °C, a SONOFF gateway and 50 triggers a day. In a busy hallway where the sensor fires hundreds of times daily, expect less. The battery level shows in the eWeLink app.
• How is the SNZB-03P different from the SNZB-06P?

  Principle and power. The 03P is a battery PIR: it catches motion and is built for walk-through zones — hallway, staircase, pantry. The 06P is a USB-powered mmWave presence sensor: it sees even a motionless person but needs an outlet nearby. For "light while I sit at the desk" — the 06P; for "light when I walk in" — the 03P.
• What happens to my scenes if the internet goes down?

  Local Zigbee scenes carry on: the sensor → hub → relay chain executes inside your network with no cloud involved. You need a hub with local scenes — NSPanel Pro, iHost or Zigbee Bridge Pro; voice commands and push notifications return with the internet.
• Can I adjust how soon the light switches off?

  Yes. In eWeLink you set the detection duration — the pause after which the sensor reports no motion; the shortest is 5 seconds. The setting requires a ZBBridge-P, NSPanel Pro or iHost. In Home Assistant the off-delay is defined right in the automation.
