• Which gateway does it need to work smart?

  The A5 talks over Zigbee 3.0 and does NOT join Wi-Fi by itself, so it needs a Tuya or MOES Zigbee gateway (sold separately). Through it the breaker reaches the MOES, Smart Life or Tuya apps and then Alexa, Google Home and SmartThings. Without a gateway it is only a manual breaker — no remote control and no metering visible on a phone.
• Does it really measure consumption in kWh?

  Yes. The A5 reads current, voltage and power on its circuit in real time and totals energy in kWh, with hourly, daily, monthly and yearly reports in the app. The power-monitoring range is 1–26 kW. For metering to work the breaker must be wired with live AND neutral — without neutral the meter reads nothing.
• What current is it rated for — 40 A or 63 A?

  The A5 hardware has an overcurrent threshold adjustable from 1 to 63 A, set in the app; the supplied variant is configured around 40 A. Important: choose the threshold by the actual cable cross-section, not the other way round — 63 A on a thin conductor defeats the protection. Confirm the right value for your circuit with your electrician.
• Can I install it myself or do I need an electrician?

  It is an electrician's job. The A5 mounts on the DIN rail in the distribution board and wires in series on the line, with live and neutral, with mains voltage present. The housing is only IP20, so it stays strictly inside the panel. It is not a plug-and-play device like a smart plug.
• Does it protect against mains voltage swings?

  Yes. Besides overcurrent, the A5 automatically trips the circuit on overvoltage (220–265 V) and undervoltage (76–240 V), with thresholds set in the app. In an area where the voltage swings in the evening, this protects the fridge and sensitive electronics. It also trips on terminal overheating (40–150 °C).
• What happens to the load if the internet or Zigbee drops?

  The physical protections — overcurrent, overvoltage, overheating — are local and keep tripping even with no network or gateway. What is lost without a connection is remote control, reading kWh on a phone and cloud scenes. The A5 has state memory, so after power returns it restores the set state.
