• What kind of LED strip does this controller drive?

  DIGITAL addressable (pixel/SPI) strips from the WS281x family, the WS2811 chip by default, in RGB, RGBW or RGBCCT mode. Each LED has its own colour, so you can run chase and rainbow effects pixel by pixel. It does NOT drive analogue RGB/RGBCCT strips that carry one colour channel — those use the analogue GL-C series.
• Do I need a hub or gateway?

  Yes. The GL-SPI-206P is a ZigBee device and requires a Tuya ZigBee gateway / hub to appear in the Tuya / Smart Life app and be controlled from the phone. Without a gateway it cannot be added to the app. The Tuya ZigBee hub is bought separately.
• Which addressable-strip chips does it support?

  The SPI (TTL) outputs at 800 Kbps work with WS281x-family chips, WS2811 by default, in RGB / RGBW / RGBCCT mode. The strip must be the addressable type (a data line per pixel). Before ordering, check the strip label: if it says WS2811/WS2812/WS281x, it is compatible.
• How much current and voltage does it handle?

  It takes a DC 5, 12 or 24 V input (the same voltage as the strip) and handles up to 15 A total. Note: the 15 A is the controller limit — the pixels themselves also draw current, so on long runs feed the strip directly from the supply and inject voltage at both ends, or the last LEDs lose colour.
• Does it work with Home Assistant or SmartThings?

  Yes — as a universal ZigBee device it can also be added to Home Assistant or SmartThings through a compatible ZigBee coordinator / hub, alongside the main Tuya ZigBee + Smart Life path. Exact support for the pixel effects depends on the integration; the manufacturer-backed path is the Tuya app through a Tuya ZigBee gateway.
• Can I use the RF remote instead of the phone?

  Yes — the controller also has a 2.4G RF path: a Gledopto RF remote drives the strip directly, handy as a fallback if the network drops. The remote is not included and is sold separately. Full control with scenes, music and timer stays in the Tuya / Smart Life app through the ZigBee gateway.
• Can it be mounted outdoors, on a terrace?

  Not without protection. The controller is rated IP20 with a flame-retardant PC housing and is for dry indoor use only. For a terrace, facade or damp area it must go inside a sealed enclosure, and the addressable strip itself must be an outdoor type (IP65 or higher).
