• How is 'Matter over Wi-Fi' different from a Tuya controller?

  A Tuya controller keeps you in the Smart Life app and depends on the Tuya cloud. The GL-C-218M speaks Matter, the open standard, over Wi-Fi: you add it by scanning a Matter code and the same strip shows up in Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa, without tying you to a single maker or one app.
• Do I need a hub or a Thread Border Router?

  Not a Thread Border Router — that is mislisted on one page and belongs to the Thread model; the GL-C-218M runs on Wi-Fi. You do need an active Matter controller at home for commissioning and remote control: a HomePod or Apple TV, a recent Amazon Echo, a Google Nest, a SmartThings hub or Home Assistant.
• Does it drive addressable strips like WS2812B?

  No. The GL-C-218M is an analog 5-in-1 (RGB+CCT) controller with a 6-pin PWM output (R, G, B, C, W, V+), for single-colour-per-channel strips. For digital addressable strips such as WS2812B or SK6812 you need a Gledopto SPI-output controller or a WLED one, not this model.
• What strip and power supply does it need?

  An analog RGB+CCT strip at 12 V or 24 V and a DC power supply at the same voltage. The controller carries 15 A per channel and 20 A total, so a long RGB+CCT strip runs with no separate per-colour driver; size the supply by the strip length and its draw per metre.
• Can I control the strip with a physical button, not just the phone?

  Yes. The controller supports PUSH dimming via an external button: a short press toggles on and off, a long press dims. It is handy in the kitchen or hallway when you want light fast without the app, while control from Apple Home, Google or Alexa stays available in parallel.
• Why pick Matter over Gledopto's WLED or Tuya version?

  For ecosystem independence. The WLED version is great for hobbyists and digital strips, the Tuya one for people already in Smart Life. Matter is the choice when you want the strip to join Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa natively alike and stay compatible for years, whatever phone you switch to.
• Can it be installed outdoors or in a bathroom?

  The controller itself is for indoor use — in a ceiling box, a plasterboard profile or behind a cove, not exposed to water. The maker publishes no IP rating for it, so keep it somewhere dry; for a terrace or bathroom protect it inside a separate sealed enclosure.
