• Does it need a hub, or does it work straight with a phone?

  The ZWHS16 is a Zigbee device, not Wi-Fi, so it needs a Tuya/Smart Life Zigbee gateway — on its own it does not connect to a phone. Once the gateway is in place the sensor shows up in the Smart Life app, and that is where alarms, scenes and voice control come from. Without a gateway it stays a thermometer with a screen.
• Is the screen LCD or E-Ink?

  Avatto's official page describes an E-Ink (electronic ink) screen, not an LCD — some supplier listings mislabel it as "LCD". E-Ink shows the figures crisply and without flicker, has no backlight of its own, and only draws power when a reading changes, which is why the battery lasts. It reads easily off a shelf, but a dark room needs a little ambient light.
• Can I see temperature history over time?

  The Smart Life app shows the current reading and lets you build automations from it; Avatto's official page does not list a history graph as a guaranteed feature for this model. For watching trends over time use threshold alarms and notifications (for example a warning when humidity falls below a value) — for a nursery, a wine corner or a network cabinet that does the same job.
• What battery does it use, and is it included?

  The battery is not included, and Avatto does not publish the exact chemistry on the product page, so we go by what is printed on the packaging that ships. Have the battery type written on the box ready for the install; because the E-Ink screen only draws current when a reading changes, the runtime is long.
• How accurate is it, and how do I correct an error?

  The thermistor sensor is accurate to ±1 °C over the -9.9 to 60.0 °C range and reads humidity from 0 to 99.9% RH. If placement by a radiator or a cold wall introduces a bias, you trim it with the app's temperature calibration. For the truest readings keep the sensor away from heat sources and draughts.
• Can I use voice control with it?

  Yes — once the sensor is bound to the Zigbee gateway and the Smart Life account, the values are available through Alexa, Google Home and Yandex Alice, which Avatto lists as compatible assistants for this model. Voice works through the hub and the account, not directly from the sensor.
• Can I put it in a bathroom or outdoors?

  Not advised: the ZWHS16 has no published IP rating, so it is meant for dry indoor spaces — a nursery, a bedroom, an office, a network cabinet or a wine corner in a flat. The high humidity of a bathroom or outdoor conditions are not covered by the manufacturer's specifications.
