• How is the Basic Gen5 different from the BASICR4?

  The key difference is Matter certification: the Gen5 joins Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings directly, while the BASICR4 lives only in eWeLink. The 10 A load rating and Magic Switch Mode are present on both generations.
• Do I need a hub?

  Not for eWeLink — a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router is enough. For Matter platforms you need a controller: a HomePod/Apple TV, a Nest speaker, an Echo or a SmartThings hub — that is the ecosystems' requirement, not the relay's.
• What loads can I connect?

  Up to 10 A of resistive load: lighting, a kettle, a heater — around 2 kW at 230 V. The manufacturer advises against inductive consumers (motors, pumps) that exceed the rated power.
• What is Magic Switch Mode?

  A mode where the ordinary wall switch stays usable without cutting power to the module: an L1–L2 jumper is fitted on a double-pole rocker switch. It works only in eWeLink, with 3–100 W lamps.
• Does it work without internet?

  Yes. eWeLink has a LAN mode — commands travel locally through the router; near the device there is also offline control at up to 10 m. The one condition: add the device to eWeLink once beforehand.
• Does it fit in the round box behind a wall switch?

  That is not what it is designed for: the BASIC-1GS is an 80.5 mm in-line module installed in a break in the line — in a junction box, a panel or a fixture base, where both live and neutral are available (N In/L In → N Out/L Out terminals). For a round Ø60 mm switch box, pick the MINI series.
• Can I control it without a phone?

  Yes. The case has a large button: a short press toggles on/off, holding for 5 seconds enters pairing mode. On top of that, an ordinary wall switch connects to the L1/L2 inputs.
• Can I install it outdoors or in a bathroom?

  No. The housing has no declared IP rating; the manufacturer specifies dry indoor spaces only and a −10 to +40 °C range. Damp areas call for IP-protected solutions.
