Frequently asked questions

• Does it really need no hub at all?

  Yes. As a Matter-over-Wi-Fi device, the module joins the 2.4 GHz router and Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa directly by scanning the Matter code — no Zigbee hub and no Tuya gateway. The one requirement is an active Matter controller in the home (a HomePod/Apple TV, Google Nest or an Alexa hub) to keep the home reachable from away.
• How does it differ from the Zigbee version of the same module?

  The Zigbee version (ZM-104B-M-LT-MS) mandates a separate Tuya/Zigbee gateway to work and reach the apps at all. This Matter-over-Wi-Fi version needs no gateway: it connects straight to the router and the ecosystem. The trade-off is that the Matter variant needs a neutral in the box, whereas the no-neutral Zigbee version can also go where there is no neutral.
• Does it work without a neutral wire?

  No. This Matter version needs a neutral conductor in the switch box, alongside live and the lamp lines. Before ordering, open the box and confirm a neutral reaches it; if the box has only live and the load lines, you need a no-neutral variant (for example the Zigbee sibling ZM-104B-M-LT-MS).
• How many circuits does it switch and what load does it take?

  It switches two independent lighting circuits: 10 A per gang and 10 A total, at 90–250 V AC (or 5–30 V DC). It is meant for lighting and ordinary resistive loads; at 10 A per line fit a suitable MCB ahead of the module. The two channels suit a chandelier plus a sconce, or two rooms fed from the same box.
• Can I keep the wall switch?

  Yes. The module installs behind the existing key and auto-recognises whether the switch is a toggle or a momentary push, so the wall stays unchanged. The physical key keeps turning the light on, while app control, scenes and voice are added on top — a second control point, not a replacement.
• Can it be installed in a bathroom or outdoors?

  No. The housing is IP20 with no moisture protection, so the module is strictly for indoor use in a dry back-box. For a bathroom or outdoors, choose solutions with proper ingress protection (IP44 and above). The module runs at -10 to +65 °C, with the case temperature capped at +80 °C.
• Does it measure energy consumption?

  No. The MWM-104B-MS is a clean on/off relay with schedules and timers, with no energy-metering function. If you need current and kWh monitoring, choose a device with metering (for example a Moes smart circuit breaker with energy monitoring), not this module.
