• Which radio does it use and how does it differ from the CC2652P SLZB-06?

  It uses Silicon Labs' EFR32MG24, a multiprotocol SoC. That is the key difference from the SLZB-06 and 06p on the Texas Instruments CC2652P, which do Zigbee only: the MG24 adds Thread (Matter-over-Thread) on the same radio. Above it sits the SLZB-06Mg26 on the EFR32MG26, with more flash and RAM.
• Does it work with Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA in Home Assistant?

  Yes. The coordinator ships pre-flashed for Zigbee2MQTT, and ZHA is officially supported too, so in Home Assistant you run it under either integration. Firmware for the EFR32MG24 and the ESP32 host updates remotely over the web.
• Can I use Thread and Matter right now?

  The hardware is capable: the EFR32MG24 radio supports Thread and Matter-over-Thread. In practice it comes down to firmware — the module ships ready for Zigbee, and for Thread you move the radio to the matching firmware. You cannot run a production Zigbee network and a Thread border router on the same radio at once.
• How do I power it — PoE or USB?

  Either. A single Ethernet cable with PoE 802.3af (up to 15 W) carries data and power through the LAN8720 PHY; if you have no PoE switch, run it on USB Type-C. The optoelectronic isolation even allows both connections at once, which helps for flashing or redundancy.
• What does LAN mode mean versus USB mode?

  In USB mode the coordinator appears as a serial port on the host running Z2M/ZHA. In LAN mode it serves Zigbee over IP across the network, so the Home Assistant server can sit in one room and the antenna in another. You switch modes from the web UI or the physical button, with no reflash.
• Does it cover a whole house or just one room?

  The external antenna rotates on three axes and adds +5 dB on top of the +20 dB amplifier on the radio, so the signal reaches far further than a dongle plugged into the server. A three-room apartment with a corridor is usually fully covered; a large house may need Zigbee routers (mains-powered plugs or relays) to thicken the mesh.
• Do I need a separate hub to use it?

  No. The coordinator IS the bridge between the mesh and your network — it does not connect to a hub, it replaces the Zigbee dongle of a self-hosted setup. You only need a host running Home Assistant with Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA (a mini-PC, a NAS or a Raspberry Pi); it builds the rest of the Zigbee/Thread network itself.
