• Which radio chip does the SLZB-06p7 use, and what does it change?

  It uses a Texas Instruments CC2652P7 with 153 kB of RAM — the generation with more memory than the CC2652P in the base SLZB-06, so a larger routing table and room for more devices. With the on-board +20dB amplifier and the external +5dB antenna, it gives the best Zigbee coverage of the CC2652P7 generation.
• Does it cover a large mesh in a house with concrete walls?

  Yes — that is its strength. The on-board +20dB amplifier and the external rotatable +5dB antenna, aimable in three dimensions, push signal through floors and thick walls. Mounted centrally and powered over PoE, it keeps distant devices on the network that a USB dongle with an internal antenna would drop.
• How does it connect to the network and get power?

  It joins over 100M Ethernet on the LAN8720 SoC and takes power from 802.3af PoE (15W) down a single cable, or over USB Type-C if a socket is near. The ESP32 WiFi helps with setup. That lets you mount it centrally, away from the host — exactly where coverage is best.
• Does it work with Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA in Home Assistant?

  Yes. The SLZB-06p7 is supported by Zigbee2MQTT and ZHA out of the box and runs as a LAN coordinator: it is the bridge between the Zigbee mesh and your Home Assistant server, with no cloud. OTA updates for the CC2652P7 chip and the ESP32 are done from the coordinator's web interface.
• Does it support Thread or Matter?

  No. The SLZB-06p7 is pure Zigbee 3.0 — the CC2652P7 is a Zigbee radio, not a multiprotocol one. If you also want Thread or Matter-over-Thread, the right models in the same family are the SLZB-06Mg24, SLZB-06Mg26 or the SLZB-MR multiradio series, which combine Zigbee and Thread radios.
• Does it need a separate hub?

  No. The coordinator IS the Zigbee bridge — no separate vendor hub is needed. It does need a host running Zigbee2MQTT or ZHA (for example Home Assistant on a mini-PC, NAS or Raspberry Pi), which it connects to over the network or USB. The coordinator manages the mesh; the host runs the software.
• Where should it be mounted for maximum coverage?

  As centrally as possible and away from 2.4 GHz noise sources — the WiFi router, monitors, USB power supplies — by at least 1–2 m. PoE lets you place it in the loft or stairwell rather than next to the host. Then aim the external antenna at the weak zone; that is where range is won, not beside the desk.
