• What does PoE mean, and why does it matter on the PS2M?

  PoE (Power over Ethernet) means a single network cable carries both power and data. On the PS2M you run a UTP from the PoE switch to the camera, so no socket near the ceiling is needed and the Wi-Fi is not loaded. If you cannot run cable, the model also takes USB-C 5V power and dual-band Wi-Fi 6 as a fallback.
• Does it connect to an NVR, and which ones?

  Yes — that is exactly what it is built for. Being PoE-wired, the PS2M appears as a stable source in an Imou NVR or Dahua NVR and records 24/7 without depending on radio signal. It also supports ONVIF, so it works with any third-party ONVIF-compatible NVR. Besides a card and an NVR, the Imou Protect cloud is an option.
• Does it work with Home Assistant, Frigate or Synology over ONVIF?

  Yes. The PS2M is officially listed with ONVIF support, so it integrates into Home Assistant, Frigate or Synology Surveillance Station via ONVIF/RTSP, alongside the imou Life app. Enable ONVIF/RTSP in imou Life first; for Frigate use the sub-stream, which is lighter to process than the main 3K feed.
• Do I need a special PoE switch?

  Use a standards-compliant PoE switch or injector (802.3af/at) — the camera draws little, under 5–6 W. On longer runs use good network cable. If you do not yet have PoE infrastructure, you can power the camera over USB-C 5V or run it on Wi-Fi 6 and move to PoE later.
• Does it see in colour at night or only black-and-white?

  It has full-colour night vision via built-in spotlights, alongside classic infrared that reaches 15 m. There are four modes — Smart, Full Color, Infrared and Off — so you choose a colour image, the discretion of infrared, or an automatic switch based on the room's light level.
• What does it detect, and can I talk through the camera?

  The IMOU Sense platform detects people and vehicles, with configurable detection zones and schedule, plus abnormal-sound detection. It has full-duplex two-way audio with echo cancellation, so you can talk both ways, and a 110 dB siren for deterrence.
• Can it be mounted outdoors or in a bathroom?

  No. The Ranger Mini PS2M is an indoor camera with no IP rating, rated for -10 to +45 °C, so it is for enclosed spaces only — living room, bedroom, office, kitchen or hallway. For a terrace, yard or a humid bathroom choose an outdoor IP66/IP67-rated imou model, such as one from the Bullet or Cruiser series.
