• Why does it have two lenses and how does that help?

  One lens is fixed and always holds the whole room across 88° horizontally, while the second sits on the pan-tilt head, rotating 355° and tilting from -5° to 80°. That lets you see the wide view and a tracked close-up at the same time — an ordinary single-lens PT camera loses the rest of the room when it turns to a corner.
• Does it work with Home Assistant or a third-party NVR?

  Yes. The official imou datasheet lists ONVIF, so the camera can be added over ONVIF/RTSP to a third-party NVR, to Home Assistant, to Synology Surveillance Station or to Frigate — it is not locked to the Imou Life app alone. For the full AI features (tracking, human/pet detection) you still use the Imou app.
• Does it have a battery or work over 4G?

  Neither. The Ranger Dual is a mains-powered indoor camera: DC 5V/1.5A over USB-C drawing under 7.5 W, so a regular adapter works. It connects over dual-band Wi-Fi 6 or an RJ-45 Ethernet cable — there is no SIM slot and no built-in battery.
• What memory card does it take, and where else does it record?

  It takes microSD up to 512 GB for local recording. On top of that it supports Imou Cloud (subscription) and NVR recording, so you can choose local, cloud or both. The card is not included.
• Does it see in colour in the dark, or only black and white?

  Both. It has infrared night vision up to 15 m for a discreet black-and-white image and a Smart Full-Color mode with a built-in LED spotlight that switches to colour automatically on motion — useful in a hallway or entrance where clothing and faces need to be readable.
• Does the whole camera rotate, or just one lens?

  Only the second lens, the one on the pan-tilt block, rotates 355° and tilts from -5° to 80°. The fixed wide-angle lens does not move, so aim it at the main area of the room during mounting. There is also 8x digital zoom on the image.
• Can I talk through the camera, and is there an alarm?

  Yes. It has a built-in mic and speaker for two-way audio and a one-touch call to the app, plus a light-and-siren alarm to deter an intruder. The Imou SENSE AI can trigger alerts on people, pets or abnormal sound.
