Frequently asked questions

• Does the camera rotate to follow movement?

  No — the Cue 2 is a fixed camera, with no pan or tilt motor. You set the angle when mounting and it always watches one spot; the 2.8 mm lens covers 112° horizontally, enough for a room from a corner. If you want panning and automatic motion tracking, choose a PT model from the imou Ranger series.
• Does it have full-colour night vision?

  No. The Cue 2 has infrared night vision only, so the image in the dark is black-and-white, out to about 10 m. There is no full-colour night mode (that needs a white LED spotlight, found on the Ranger models and outdoor cameras). For ordinary indoor monitoring the black-and-white IR view is perfectly usable.
• Does it work with Home Assistant, Synology or an NVR?

  Yes. The Cue 2 exposes an ONVIF profile and an RTSP stream, so you can add it to a third-party NVR, to Synology Surveillance Station, to Frigate or to Home Assistant through the generic ONVIF/camera integration. First enable ONVIF/RTSP in the imou Life app, and if the stream will not start, turn off the TLS toggle. Day-to-day control and notifications stay in imou Life.
• Can I record without a cloud subscription?

  Yes. Insert a microSD card up to 256 GB and the camera records locally, with no subscription; AOR mode gives continuous recording, while event detection saves clips when a person or an abnormal sound appears. Imou Cloud (with a free trial) stays optional, as an off-site backup.
• What connection and power does it need?

  It connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6 only (5 GHz is not supported — for an indoor camera this barely matters, as 2.4 GHz reaches better through walls). Power is simple: DC 5V over the bundled micro-USB cable, with no PoE and no battery, so you need a socket near the mounting spot.
• Can I talk through the camera, and does it work with Alexa or Google?

  Yes. The Cue 2 has a built-in mic and speaker for two-way talk and a siren for deterrence. Alexa and Google Assistant voice control work through the imou Life app — you can call up a live view on a compatible screen. There is also a Privacy Mode that turns the image off while you are home.
