• How does auto-tracking work?

  IMOU SENSE smart tracking detects a moving person and automatically turns the motorised head (355° pan, −5° to 80° tilt) to keep them framed all the way across the room. There is no need to pan the view by hand in imou Life. It works best across the horizontal; for very wide areas also set cruise modes that patrol preset points.
• Does it see in colour at night or only black-and-white?

  It has both modes. On infrared (up to 10 m) the image is black-and-white and discreet, with no visible light. With the built-in white light it switches to a full-colour mode, so you see the colour of clothing and faces, not just grey silhouettes. Colour mode is useful at an entrance or hallway, where identifying a person matters.
• Can I connect it to a third-party NVR or Home Assistant?

  Yes. The Ranger 2 Pro is ONVIF Profile T certified and exposes an RTSP stream, so it connects to a third-party NVR, to Home Assistant, Synology Surveillance Station or Frigate over ONVIF/RTSP — you are not locked into the imou Life app. For the full AI feature set and easy PT control, the imou Life app remains the best interface.
• What memory card does it use and how much does it record?

  It takes a microSD card up to 512 GB for local recording, plus imou cloud storage on a subscription. The card is not included; choose a surveillance-grade (endurance) card, because a camera writes continuously and wears out ordinary cards faster.
• How is it powered and does it draw much?

  It is powered over USB-C at 5V/1A and draws under 5 W — use the original adapter, because the weak ports on some chargers cause reboots. It also has an Ethernet port for a stable network link, but the official spec does not list it as PoE, so treat it as a data port, not a power source.
• Does it tell a person from a cat?

  Yes. IMOU SENSE AI detection separates people from pets, so you do not get an alert every time the cat crosses the room. It also recognises abnormal sounds such as a baby crying or glass breaking, a useful extra layer of alerting in the home.
• Can I talk through it, and does it have a siren?

  Yes, it has two-way audio with a louder speaker, so you talk and listen through the imou Life app — handy to calm a child or answer someone at home. It also has a built-in siren that can be triggered manually or by an automation to deter an intruder.
