• How many strips can I connect to the GL-C-616WL?

  It has two independent digital outputs (hence "2D"), so you drive two addressable-pixel lines from one controller, in sync. For a single line there is the one-output sibling, and for big projects the four-output version; the 15 A is the total across both channels.
• Does it need a hub or gateway?

  No. The ESP32 runs WLED firmware and is autonomous on the network: at first power-up it raises a "WLED-AP" access point, then you control it from the WLED web interface or the WLED Native app. It is not Zigbee, needs no Gledopto gateway, and forces no cloud account.
• Can I use it with Home Assistant?

  Yes. WLED has a native Home Assistant integration over Wi-Fi or through the Ethernet port, so the strips appear as light entities in scenes and automations, with no software bridge. The Ethernet cable connection is steadier if the router is far from the room.
• What do "EX", "M" and "U" in 2D-EXMU mean?

  "2D" = two digital outputs; "EX" adds the Ethernet (RJ45) port beside Wi-Fi; "M" marks the built-in microphone for audio-reactive effects; "U" is the UART/Type-C port used for flashing and service power. In short: two outputs, plus wired network, sound and a programming port.
• Which LED strips does it support?

  It drives addressable-IC (pixel) strips, not plain analogue strips: WS2812B, WS2815, SK6812, UCS2903B, SM16703 and similar, at DC 5, 12 or 24 V. You set the IC type, pixel count and colour order in WLED. The strip voltage must match the power supply exactly.
• Does it power the strip, or do I need a separate supply?

  You need a separate DC supply matched to the strip voltage (5, 12 or 24 V). The controller switches up to 15 A total across the two channels but does not generate the strip current itself — the Type-C 5 V/3 A port is for flashing and service, not for powering a long strip.
• Does it work without the internet?

  Yes. Once set up, the controller runs locally: WLED stores its settings and effects on the ESP32, and control from the local network works with no internet connection. The internet is only needed for firmware updates or remote access through Home Assistant.
