Frequently asked questions

• Do I need a gateway or Zigbee hub for the GL-SPI-206W?

  No. The 206W version is Wi-Fi: it joins your 2.4 GHz network directly and appears in the Tuya/Smart Life app with no gateway or hub. The separate Zigbee model (GL-SPI-206P) is the one that needs a hub.
• What strip type does it drive — addressable or plain RGB?

  Only DIGITAL addressable strips with a chip per LED (WS2812B, SK6812, WS2815 and so on). It does NOT drive analogue RGB or RGBCCT strips with one colour channel — for those use a Gledopto controller from the analogue series.
• How many LEDs and what length does one controller drive?

  Up to 1000 LEDs across 20 segments at 15 A total. On long runs power the strip directly, not only through the controller, and inject voltage at both ends so the last pixels do not fade to yellow.
• Does it work with Google Home, Alexa or Home Assistant?

  Through the Tuya/Smart Life account it usually links to Google Home and Alexa for on/off, colour and scenes; SmartThings is also supported. Home Assistant can pick it up via the Tuya integration, but advanced pixel effects are best set in the Tuya app.
• What supply voltage does it need?

  It takes DC 5, 12 or 24 V — pick the power supply to match your strip voltage (for example WS2812B at 5 V, WS2815 at 12 V). The power supply is not included; we size it to your pixel count.
• Is the RF remote included?

  No. The 2.4G RF remote is optional and sold separately. It drives the strip directly in RF mode, useful as a backup when Wi-Fi drops; for full control you still use the Tuya app.
• Can it be mounted outdoors, on a facade?

  The controller is only IP20 and indoor-rated. For outdoor use it must sit in a sealed enclosure, and the LED strip and power supply themselves must be waterproof (IP65 or higher).
