• How many strips can I connect to this controller?

  The GL-C-016WL-D has one digital output, so it drives a single line of addressable strip, up to 800 ICs. If you have two or four separate runs, the same range has 2-output (GL-C-615WL) and 4-output (GL-C-017WL-D, GL-C-618WL) models; for a single project the single-output version is the most economical.
• Does it need a hub or the Gledopto app?

  No. The ESP32 chip runs WLED firmware and connects directly over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi; there is no Gledopto gateway and no mandatory vendor app. On first boot it raises its own access point, you join it to the home network and control it from the WLED web UI or the WLED app.
• Which LED strips are compatible?

  Addressable (pixel) strips with WS2812B, SM16703P, SK6812, WS2813, WS2811, WS2815, GS8208 or TM1814 ICs, up to 800 ICs per line. It is not for analogue single-colour or classic RGB strips; for PWM RGB+CCT strips choose an analogue Gledopto controller. Power it at the strip's own voltage: 5, 12 or 24 V.
• Can I use the controller in Home Assistant?

  Yes. WLED has a native Home Assistant integration over Wi-Fi, so once the controller is on the network the strip shows up as a light entity and joins automations — motion-sensor switch-on, evening scenes, sync with other devices. Locally, with no cloud.
• What is the USB Type-C port for?

  Type-C is the UART download port: through it you flash or update WLED firmware from a computer and supply 5 V to the controller during setup. It is not meant to power a whole long strip — for the strip's real load use a dedicated DC supply at the correct voltage.
• Can I sync the light to music?

  Yes. The controller has a built-in microphone and WLED includes sound-reactive effects, so the strip can pulse and flow to the music in the room with no external microphone. Sensitivity and audio modes are set in the WLED interface.
• Can it be mounted outdoors, on a terrace or in the garden?

  No. The controller is rated IP20 with an indoor housing — it is mounted out of sight, in a back-box, an aluminium profile or behind furniture, at -20 to 45 °C. For an outdoor strip the strip itself must be sealed, while the controller stays protected in an indoor enclosure.
