• How does the 2-metre kit differ from the 5-metre version?

  Only in strip length and price. The controller, the 12V (24W) adapter with three interchangeable plugs, the IR remote and the per-metre figures — 30 LEDs, ≥300 lm/m, IP65 — are identical on the L2-2M and L2-5M.
• What does two metres actually cover?

  The back of a monitor or TV (roughly up to 50 inches along three sides), a shelf, a niche, a hallway mirror or a section of kitchen splashback. For a ceiling cove or a long shelving unit, pick the L2-5M.
• The strip is IP65 — are the controller and PSU protected too?

  No. The manufacturer states it directly: the Wi-Fi controller is not waterproof, and neither is the adapter. The silicone-sheathed strip takes splashes and steam, but the controller and PSU must sit in a dry zone — a cabinet, a niche or indoors.
• If I trim the excess, can the offcut be reused or reattached?

  No. The strip cuts along marks every 100 mm, but only the part wired to the controller keeps working; the offcut cannot be reconnected, and no official extension kit exists for the L2. Choose your length before buying.
• Can it run along a kitchen splashback above the sink?

  Yes, that is a textbook spot for the L2: the IP65 rating protects the LEDs from splashes and steam, and the silicone sheath wipes clean. Two conditions: the controller and adapter stay out of the splash zone, and the socket sits within 1.5 m (the adapter cable length).
• Which Wi-Fi does it need, and what happens without internet?

  The controller only joins 2.4 GHz networks (IEEE 802.11b) — on a dual-band router enable mixed b/g/n mode. Without internet, the strip obeys Bluetooth 5.0 from your phone and the bundled IR remote.
• Official images show a Works with SmartThings badge — is it real?

  The badge comes from the manufacturer itself: the link works through the eWeLink integration inside SmartThings, with no separate direct connection. The core ecosystems are eWeLink, Alexa and Google Home — those are the ones we list.
• Does the strip heat up? Can I hide it inside a furniture profile?

  It runs moderately warm — the manufacturer explicitly requires airflow for heat dissipation. An open aluminium profile or a ventilated groove is fine; a fully sealed channel is not: without ventilation the LEDs degrade faster.
