• What appliances can I control with the eRemote HA?

  Any appliance with an infrared remote: televisions, air conditioners, set-top boxes, DVD players, amplifiers and projectors. Codes come from a large library of brands and models or are learned manually from the physical remote. For 433 MHz radio-frequency devices (switches, sockets, curtain motors) you need the separate eHome HA model.
• How does it integrate with Home Assistant?

  Through IR2MQTT, locally over the home network. First add the MQTT integration to Home Assistant and enter the server details in the eRemote HA settings; after that every IR appliance you add appears automatically as an entity with its buttons synced, ready for scenes and automations. Control runs locally, with no cloud.
• Does it need a hub or a separate bridge?

  No. The eRemote HA connects straight to the Wi-Fi router and talks to Home Assistant over MQTT — no proprietary hub and no separate bridge are required. The only condition is that the device and the Home Assistant server sit on the same LAN.
• Does it work on 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

  No. The eRemote HA supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only; the 5 GHz band is not compatible. If the router broadcasts both bands under one network name, connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz band during setup or split the SSIDs temporarily so the device joins the right band.
• How far does the infrared signal reach?

  Up to about 12 metres, and the maker also states it works via reflection off walls — handy when the appliance is not in a straight line of sight. As with any IR remote, range drops when the signal has to bend around furniture or partitions; ideally place the unit with a clear view of the appliances.
• Can I use voice commands?

  Yes. The maker confirms it works with Alexa and Google Home, so the IR appliances you add can be turned on and off by voice. On top of that, as entities in Home Assistant they can also be triggered from scenes, routines and local automations alongside the rest of the home.
• How is the initial setup done?

  From the LinknLink app: pick the appliance type and brand for auto-matching and test the code options, or use Learn Remote Now to teach the codes manually from the physical remote. After setup, day-to-day control stays in Home Assistant through the MQTT integration.
